SDI Wreck Diver - Explore underwater history safely (399€)
Wreck diving can be one of the most exciting aspects of sport diving, however every effort must be made to maximize safe diving techniques. The SDI Wreck Diver Course will discuss the equipment and techniques commonly employed while wreck diving. This course may be taught as a non-penetration, 2 dives required, or as a limited-penetration course, requiring 3 dives. Limited-penetration is defined as a swim through or within the ambient light of entry point.

Who Is This Course For?

What You Will Learn:
🔹 Why Wreck Dive? - Understand the appeal of wreck diving and explore underwater history.
🔹 Surface Supports - Learn when to communicate and how to use backup procedures.
🔹 Buddy System & Contact - Master staying in contact with your buddy using buddy lines, line signals, and proper positioning, even in low visibility.
🔹 Navigation & Charting - Gain skills in using a slate, pre-dive planning with charts, and directional determination.
🔹 Handling Disorientation - with/without your buddy, lost buddy, light failure, or disorientation with effective emergency procedures.
🔹 Special Equipment Use - Train on using primary and backup lights (considering size and burn time) as well as knives and cutting devices.
🔹 Limited Visibility Diving - Learn strategies to handle silt-out and low visibility, manage psychological factors, and use lights properly without blinding your buddy.
🔹 Life Lines & Reels - Understand different line types, tie-offs, directional markers, and practice line handling and reeling techniques on land prior to in-water.
🔹 Special Emergency Procedures - Study safe protocols and managing emergency situations.
🔹 Mapping the Wreck - Develop techniques to chart a wreck vertically and horizontally, as well as identify features for a better understanding of the wreck’s layout.

The SDI e-Learning materials are accessible in multiple languages. At B&W Diving, we are pleased to provide in-person dive training in English, French, Spanish, and Japanese. Please note that comprehension of the training language is crucial for effective learning and maintaining safety throughout your course.
Duration:
The Wreck Diver Specialty Course requires a strong foundation in buoyancy, trim, and positioning (BTP). It is a demanding course, spread out in 4 dives in 2 days. The first dive is to ensure that your equipment and weighting are properly adjusted, that BTP are in order, while also familiarizing yourself with local safety procedures before “diving” into your course.
At our facility, certification is earned, not given, it is subjected to the instructor’s discretion based on your comfort level in the water. We will try our best to help you complete the course in the recommended time, but if extra training days are required, it will incur in extra fees.
What Is Included?
At B&W Diving, we are committed to transparent pricing with no hidden fees. The course includes:
- Land transport from the dive center to the dive site and return when applicable
- Dive Equipment: including mask, wetsuit, boots, fins, backplate/wing, regulators, dive computer, cylinders, and weights

Prerequisites:
✔️ SDI Open Water Scuba Diver, or equivalent
✔️ Minimum age 18, 15 for limited penetration course with parental consent
✔️ Minimum age 10 with parental consent for a non-penetration course
✔️ Junior Open Water Divers may not participate in any penetration activities or dives deeper than 18 metres/60 feet
✔️ Divers must have a deep diver specialty certification or be able to provide proof of experience in order to dive deeper than 18 metres/60 feet in this course
✔️ Proof of 20 logged open water dives

Cancellation Policy:
We understand that unexpected changes can occur, but due to the logistical arrangements involved, the following cancellation fees apply:
- Cancellations made within 24 hours of the scheduled course will incur in a 100% cancellation fee.
- Cancellations made within 48 hours of the scheduled course will incur in a 50% cancellation fee.
If you need to cancel or reschedule, please inform us as early as possible so we can assist you accordingly and try to accommodate your request.
