The TDI Closed Circuit Rebreather (CCR) Air Diluent Diver Course is your first step into rebreather diving.

Discover a quieter way to explore underwater, with efficient gas use and a breathing mixture managed through oxygen partial pressure control. Simply put, it’s like carrying a nitrox blending station on your back.

At Black & White Diving, we focus on understanding your equipment and developing the habits needed to use it responsibly. From preparation and checklists to buoyancy and emergency procedures, you’ll build your skills through structured instruction and practical experience.

This unit-specific course trains you to conduct no-decompression CCR dives to a maximum depth of 30 metres / 100 feet using air diluent.

Available on the Divesoft Liberty in Backmount and Sidemount configurations. Halcyon Symbios coming soon. Configuration suitability is discussed before booking.

🔘 Scrubber & Unit Management: Practise scrubber preparation, unit assembly, disassembly and post-dive cleaning.

🔘 Dive Planning & Execution: Work with dive computers, setpoints and CCR planning procedures.

🔘 Emergency Procedures: Develop responses to failures, practise bailout procedures and work through problem-solving scenarios.

🔘 Checklists & Consistent Procedures: Build disciplined preparation, pre-dive checks and monitoring habits.

Graduates are qualified for no-decompression dives to a maximum depth of 30 metres/100 feet on the specific CCR unit used during training, in environments and conditions comparable to those encountered on the course.

TDI eLearning materials are available in multiple languages. In-person instruction is available in English, French, Spanish and Japanese. You must understand the training language and communicate clearly with your instructor throughout the course.

Price

• 1 on 1 (individual): €1,440
• Shared group (compatible skills, max. 3 divers): €1,260 per person
• Minimum duration: 6 days

Included: Tech/CCR instructor, cylinders for twinset, sidemount or CCR plus two stages/bailouts, gas up to Nitrox 32%, weights, diving equipment required for the course (except drysuit and DPV), technical facility use and land transport.

Extra: E-learning materials, diver registration fee with the training agency, certification fees, gas over Nitrox 32%, extra cylinders, Sofnolime, Heritage Malta UCHU fees for the deep wrecks, ferry and boat fees.

Extra training days: certification is earned, not guaranteed, and is awarded at the instructor’s discretion based on your skills and comfort in the water. We aim to complete training within the scheduled timeframe, but additional training days may incur extra fees. See our full price list for equipment rental, cylinders and gas.

Duration

Allow six days, including a minimum of seven dives, for the briefing, equipment preparation, theory, in water training and debriefs.

Certification depends on meeting the required knowledge and skill standards. We’ll support your progress throughout, but additional training days may be necessary and will be charged separately.

Prerequisites

✔️ Minimum age: 18 years.

✔️ Twenty logged open-water dives. For a unit crossover, provide proof of ten logged CCR dives within the previous twelve months.

✔️ TDI Nitrox Diver certification, or an equivalent from a TDI-recognised agency.

✔️ For sidemount CCR training: TDI Sidemount Diver certification or equivalent and ten logged sidemount dives.

✔️ A completed diving medical questionnaire (compulsory for all divers in Malta), with medical clearance where required.
